# Put the brief where you will actually read it

## Recommended: a Google Calendar prep event
1. In Claude, open the connector settings available to your account. Connect Gmail and Google Calendar to the right Google account. Use the official Google Workspace connector instructions linked in the guide.
2. Give Claude the exact school website URL. Paste or upload relevant WhatsApp updates; this guide does not assume access to your groups.
3. Fill family-profile.md. Choose a weekday parent prep time and a 14-day lookahead.
4. Run the morning brief prompt once. Check a source, a child assignment and a date. Approve the format.
5. Run the calendar prompt. Open the returned Google Calendar link. Check calendar, date, time zone, description and that no one was unexpectedly invited.
6. Save the family profile and manually shared updates to your Claude account/project so a remote run can use them. In Cowork, open Scheduled > New task > Create with Claude. Paste the scheduling prompt. Example: Sunday-Thursday at 8pm prepares the next weekday's 7am brief. The time and timezone must be explicit. Review the summary and click Schedule when it is right.
7. Open the saved schedule and run it once. Confirm the next run and the device/account requirements shown in your setup. An ordinary recurring Calendar event does not refresh its own description; the scheduled Claude task does that work.
8. Run it again with one changed sample message. It should update the matching event, not add a second one. Disconnect or remove a source and confirm the brief reports the gap.

## Alternative: a message in Claude
Keep the same sections and ask the scheduled task to return the brief in Claude. Confirm notifications and schedule availability in your account. Read it there instead of writing a calendar event.

## Alternative: an artifact dashboard
Ask Claude to create a phone-friendly family dashboard from the approved brief, with a last-updated time and source links. Keep the dashboard private. Confirm how it will be updated in your setup; an artifact alone is not an always-running automation. Publish or share only the version you intend others to see.

## Weather and due-date logic
Look for preparations across the next 14 days, but use the current near-term weather forecast for tomorrow. Weather two weeks away is not a reliable packing commitment. Label due dates from messages; do not infer payments or school rules. Each bag item needs a school requirement, family rule or clearly labeled suggestion.
